Baking Valentine Sugar Cookies with Aura & Tudor
You will need:
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
1 cup unsalted butter softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Mix powdered sugar *I try to use all organic for all the ingredients, butter, vanilla, and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Heat oven to 375ºF. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
Divide dough in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes with 2- to 2 1/2-inch cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheet.
Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are light brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
*To decorate I linked a few we love under the recipe above. Yep, googly eyes of all shapes and sizes!
As soon as the holidays are over, Valentines Day is coming up! A fun activity to do with the kids is to make some special cookies for Daddy (actually, they’re totally for me, it’s all a trick - haha!)
I’ve really compiled a ton of sprinkles from birthday parties, Christmas, Halloween and all the holidays in-between so it’s fun to let them use them all and get creative. I’ve linked some of my favourite cookie decorations in the ingredients list above!
I linked the kids PJs and my outfit below, they’re both perfect for lazy cookie making mornings! Cooking in the kitchen with kids definitely takes 10x the amount of time, but it’s easily one of the most rewarding activities when they realise they were a part of the process to make something. Seeing their faces watch it bake in the oven is priceless!
What’s your favourite activity to do with the kids for Valentines day? I can’t wait til the kids are old enough to pass their own cards to their crushes in class!
