Oh Crap! Potty Training time is here! If you're a parent, you may dread this time, but hopefully my experiences can make it a little easier for you. I searched the internet, asked friends and looked at my local mom groups postings on potty training. There are so many different opinions and methods, just like anything in life. I chose to go by a book I bought, 'Oh Crap! Potty Training' by Jamie Glowack.

For her method, you start by having your little one naked for 3 days. Yep, naked, no clothes, in the buff, 3 days. So I started on a Saturday when my husband was traveling and I was alone with Tudor and my 9mo old baby, crazy yes, but I was determined to get it done and there was never going to be the perfect time. You then strip them down and watch them like you are glued to them. Any cue and you lead them to the potty and praise them for even getting one drop in the potty. There are all kinds of reward methods, I used the M&M reward for sitting on potty solely and producing. Day 2 I took short 1 hour excursions out as well as Day 3. After this, I put him in pants no underwear for a month, we just switched to cotton undies as he knows when he is wet.

*For me, the most important thing I can tell you is to do no undies aka commando until your child knows he has had an accident. It was tough and alot of hand washing soiled pants, but worth it.

I chose to do night time training later as I don't have the time with a baby to wake him up at night to pee. We use 'night underwear' aka 'pull-ups' to sleep in. Don't give up and keep trying. It takes a long time for most of us. I wanted to cry and yell at Tudor the first few weeks, but he has gotten so much better! I hope this helps and if you have any questions, please email me at lynn@goldwestvintage.com or comment below.

There are many choices of potties, but I chose the BabyBjörn Smart Potty even before I partnered up with them! It was the simplicity of the design, easy to clean factor and sturdiness I chose. Not to mention, it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and comes in fun colors like this aqua blue. I have the high back for home and 3, yes 3, low back ones I keep in both cars and the bathroom. In the beginning I had them all in different rooms of the house.

*The step stool is perfect for sitting on the big potty, washing hands and brushing teeth.

*Speaking of the big potty, BabyBjörn makes a Toilet Training Seat that perfectly fits in. It has a dial you can adjust so it will fit on most toilet seats securely. It washed off easily and has a handy loop to hang up on the wall.

Psst: Tudor's jeans are CrewCuts from JCrew, his shirt is Vineyard Vines and his cute little boxer undies are Tucker & Tate and you can order them by clicking on the link.
