How to Educate your Children on Anti-Racism with Books #BlackLivesMatter

#BLACKLIVESMATTER

It is our duty as parents of white children to educate them about the Black community, to teach them that it is never acceptable to treat someone differently because of the color of their skin, that we are all equal and we must look out for each other. Here are some great resources written by voices of all backgrounds to educate your children about anti-racism and equality, boundaries and respect…

I look at my kids and they are so sweet and innocent - no hate in their hearts and it’s my job to keep it that way and teach them right from wrong.

I have been quiet on social media about everything happening in the world right now. And it isn’t because I don’t have things to say, it is because I wanted to make sure I was saying the right things.

But I am learning that it’s important not to wait and there are no perfect words. It’s just important to say something, but more importantly listen and amplify the voices who know better than me! I am learning from the women around me, on this community and elsewhere, and I wanted to share some of the resources I have learned about.

Thank you to my blogger bestie Quiana @harlemlovebirds for all the resources and books that she shared so that I can begin at home teaching my own children. This conversation certainly isn’t over...it’s just beginning and it should have started a long time ago. I've posted many here thanks to @hereweeread who had a great round up. 👦🏼👦🏻👦🏽👦🏾👦🏿👧🏼👧🏻👧🏽👧🏾👧🏿

The books above can be found here at bookshop.org - these are not affiliate links and the bookshop.org website supports small independent bookshop owners with their sales, keeping small businesses afloat in these trying times.

If you have any suggestions for books for young children, please let me know so I can add them to this list!

Love, Lynn
